What are the changes to the 12.1.4100.4126 Mac OS X Client? The release notes mention Windows-only fixes and additional Windows Operating System support, but there are no notes for the Mac client.

The last version for Mac OS X was 12.1.4013.4013, so since there is a new client installer for Mac (12.1.4100.4126), what has changed?

I opened a ticket with Support this morning, and just got the same answer...that the Mac client has no changes and that the version number was only changed to match the other OS versions.

I think this was a bad move.

What was Symantec’s logic here? I can recall several past updates where the Mac client was left alone while other OS clients were updated, simply because the Mac client had no changes. Now Symantec is creating the illusion that the Mac client had some actual changes justifying a change in the version number, yet nothing has changed? This will create unnecessary work for IT shops, and because the online release notes for 12.1.4100 don’t make any mention of the Mac client remaining identical to 12.1.4013, others (like I initially did) will assume they will need to upgrade to maintain compatibility moving forward.

Sorry for the trouble. I will try to check with the concern team whether it's possible to add a specific note if there aren't any change in to the MAC OS X clients.

So, I see an MP1 and an MP1a on my file connect... Sure would be nice if Symantec could get versions synchronized with release announcements. It would also be nice if versions were placed in file names as well. Makes it confusing to have to always convert MP1 to equal 12.1.4.1, but then the SEPM and SEP Clients are what - 12.1.4.????. Release Notes only mentions 12.1.4 RU4a, version 12.1.4023.4080. Is RU4a the same as RU4 MP1? What about RU4 MP1a?

MP1a is a part 1 installation and SEPM, MP1 is part 2 tools. Are they they for the same release? I've also got MP1 clients - 32 and 64 bit.

Right, MP1a update was only limited to SEPM.

Now, Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 4 Maintenance Patch 1A (12.1.4104.4130 - 12.1 RU4 MP1a) English has been released and is now available for customers to download on FlexNet. This new SEPM release addresses the OpenSSL “Heart Bleed” vulnerability.

Hi, after installed 12.1.4100.4126 client on windows 8.1 with update 1 and hyper-v enabled, my two guests have issues on network connections. The network coomunications on clients are very slow. If I unistall Sep client from the Host the network connections on guests returned to work properly

Hi, yes is the firewall in version 12.1.4100.4126 that create the issue. If I disable it on the host, all works fine again.

We have the same issue.

On our testbench, upgraded 12.1.4013.4013 to 12.1.4100.4126

Immediately broke networking.  Could not copy files to file share, would simply hang,  Disabling firewall immediately fixed issue buit enabling firewall brought it back.

Uninstalled 4126 and did clean reinstall.  Fixed issue.  Installer doesn't work when doing upgrade.

I just upgraded the management servers from version 12.1.4013.4013 to the latest release (12.1.4104.4130) without any issues. I have now used the SEP Management console to upgrade some clients like I always do.

Everything seems to go fine, but I just noticed that after the client has upgraded and rebooted, I see two version folders under the INSTALLDIR. The folders are named 12.1.4013.4013.105 and 12.1.4100.4126.105.

Is this normal? Should the upgrade not remove the older version?

Prior to this upgrade I have always been left with one "version-folder".

Regards,

Carl

If you check the "older" folder it should be either empty or contain few remnants...I've seen this as well and for some reason the "older" folder is not removed during an upgrade with a few later versions of 12.1

I checked the content 1 hour after the upgrade and the older version is larger than the newer version. I am seeing the same thing on all upgraded clients (20 clients).

Based on the SEP_INST.log the installation was completed successfully.

Me also facing similar problem.

12.1.4013.4013.105 folder contains all the files but 12.1.4100.4126 contain only 2 folders with tmp files.

Out of 26 Clients only one client is not upgrading to 12.1.4100.4126, several attempts but no upgrade. Remote push, uninstall but nothing is working.

We have installed 12.1.4100.4126 and are seeing the same issues described by ADH above. Win 7 and Win8 clients. Clients were upgraded from 4013.

Network communication becomes very slow. Copying files to the network is extremely slow.

If we disable NTP, the problem disappears. This is definitely a firewall issue.

I have opened a support case.

We have seen this exact issue in TWO previous versions. Not impressed.

Will try suggestion from ADH to do a clean install and will update with results.

Primary Solution:

  1. In the registry, navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\

2. Back up the registry key.

3. Delete the PendingFileRenameOperations registry value from the right pane.

4. Install the software without restarting the computer first (Restarting the computer may result in the registry key being placed back in the registry before installation.)

5. Restore the registry key from the backup location.

Note: If you do not find the PendingFileRenameOperations registry value in the location above, this error message can be generated if the PendingFileRenameOperations registry value exists in the following location(s):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentSetXXX\Control\SessionManager\

Secondary Solution:

1. Look at the registry value to see what applications are pending.

2. In the registry, navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\PendingFileRenameOperations

3. Locate all entries with a status of "Pending."

4. Rename the value of that entry, placing a "2" on the end of PendingFileRenameOperations.

5. Restart the computer.

Please click the "Mark as solution" link at bottom left on the post that best answers your question. This will benefit admins looking for a solution to the same problem.
