Look out, it's Symantec Brightmail Gateway 8.0!

Feb 05, 2009 12:32 PM

Since November 2008, we've been running our beta program for the next release of Brightmail Gateway - version 8.0.
In terms of number of participants, number of messages processed, number of bugs squashed and features refined, this has been our largest and most successful beta of Brightmail Gateway to date.

By the time the product ships, we'll have processed well over 100 million messages, hit around 1000 days of testing and usage, rejected 611 million connections on global reputation and deferred over 100 million connections on local reputation.

A massive thanks is due to all of those involved so far!

The inclusion of FastPass and Adaptive Reputation Management into Brightmail Gateway has had a great impact on the amount of time spent processing messages - This is because the percentage of mail defined as 'traditional' spam (caught at content time) has dropped dramatically.

Check this graph out, Adaptive Rep was enabled on the 17th:

Over the next few weeks, leading up to the release of SBG 8.0, i'll be posting a series of updates about the new technology in version 8.0 and why this release is such an exciting one!
