It is correct that Brightmail can't really help with this. At best you could configure it to send mail slowly.
But the best rules are:
- don't look like spam. Simple, clear messages. Correct spelling. Limited number of links
- clear and FUNCTIONAL ways to un-subscribe to the e-mails. You'll get blacklisted pretty quick if your recipients can't Opt-Out. Stop sending instantly. Confirm the opt-out "you have been removed"
- Ask permission from the e-mail address owner before you send your "news". For example you should collect e-mail address via a sign-up page. Give them a choice of what kind, and how often (e.g. monthly only) mailings. Don't send advertising just because they signed up for support.
Absolutely, in no way is the Messaging Gateway designed to help you send out mass emails, or what some would call spam.
What is the maximum recommended to send massive emails? The idea is to send to our clients (more than 500) news about certain subject.

If you don't want to get blacklisted, don't send out emails that will be unwanted by the recipients.
