Microsoft No Longer Supports SQL 2000 SP3a
Created: 17 Aug 2007 | Updated: 17 Aug 2007
I would like to inform you that Microsoft has ended support for SQL 2000 servers with SP3a applied, as of July 10th 2007.
Because of this announcement, Altiris customers are strongly encouraged to upgrade their related SQL 2000 servers to either SP4 or SQL 2005 SP1. As an added incentive, there were several performance and connectivity failure issues that were resolved with a post SP3 rollup (included in SP4).
The Altiris testing methodology is to test new product versions using the currently released technologies. Therefore, Altiris products released after July 10th 2007 will not be tested for compatibility with SQL 2000 SP3a. The minimum supported version of SQL 2000 for new Altiris product versions is SQL 2000 SP4.
