Dan Sherwood from Symantec presented the beta version of Altiris Server Desk 7
• FAQ’s are available
• Role based, i.e. KM knowledge management, IM incident management, CM change management, etc.
• Can translate existing category tree from 6.0 to 7 version
• No more ‘worker’ vs. ‘winuser’ terms, instead using ‘instance analyst’ or end-user screen
• Display tickets requires no license, strictly licensed to people who access the frontend
• Screen shots can now be pasted onto the incident and stored onto the document management database (same place as the KB articles)
• Role based screens: analyst, admin, board, director, manager, etc.
• No longer Web browser dependent – eliminates the ‘back arrow’ button issue
• No more High, Medium, Low priorities, instead uses ‘How are you affected” select either individual, department, or entire company
• KB search
• WF form creation
• Many questions were asked
