We have just launched a new feature on Symantec Connect today that I think you'll really like.

For those users that have been "Certified" by Symantec (aka:  Symantec Certified Specialist or SCS) you will now see a blue "certification" badge next to the users name.  The certification program here at Symantec combines our data protection, high availability, and security credentials into a single program that spans Symantec solutions.

Certifications are customer focused and the exams are designed specifically for customers and cover core elements measuring technical knowledge and competency against factors such as installation, configuration, product administration, day-to-day maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.

You may be asking, so what is the difference between Certifications and Accreditations?

Accreditation is partner focused and the only vehicle by which partners are assessed by Symantec. Accreditation counts towards Symantec Partner Program achievement status with access to Partner Program benefits, rewards, and incentives, dependent upon partner type, level, and geography.  Symantec Partner Program accreditation offerings are comprised of the:

Symantec Technical Specialist (STS)
Accreditation as a Symantec Technical Specialist is intended for technical professionals.

Symantec Sales Expert (SSE)
Accreditation for Symantec Sales Expert is intended for anyone who needs to market, position and sell Symantec products and solutions more effectively.

Symantec Sales Expert Plus (SSE+)
Accreditation for Symantec Sales Expert Plus is intended for partner sales engineers. Learn how to effectively demo and give technical presentations on Symantec products and solutions.

I'd be interested to hear your feedback on the addition of the new Certification badge on Symantec Connect, so post a comment or vote and let us know.

I think you have to use the same email account

as your Certracker login.

Some of us are quite proud of

Some of us are quite proud of our blue badges.

Some forum member would be better off NOT having any blue badges.... make us wonder HOW they managed to pass ANY exam....

  That's because some of us

cheeky

That's because some of us actually passed by knowing the product. I honestly end up with a hand-head situation when I read some of the questions (How do I use a tape library with 2 drives?) in the BE forums...

Still want to know how to get my badge showing next to my name... :)

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

Like the badge idea

Just out of curiosity, how do you get the badges, I suppose its from the exams, so where can I do them, if you dont mind me asking that is.

Dave

Is your Connect email address

CRAIG: Is your Connect email address the same as your CertTracker address and same as PartnerNet email address?

When I changed employment late last year, I updated my SymAccount. Shortly after that my 'Accredited' badge dissapeared. I PM'ed Leslie and she explained to me that the info is supplied by PartnerNet. Once my accreditations were transferred to my new company email address, my blue badge was back (same day).

Nope, nothing Marianne.

Nope, nothing Marianne. PartnerNet shows DD as a partner, it shows I have my STS, and Cert Tracker is also correct. Same username/password but nothing. I'll just raise this with Leslie et al.

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

I have noticed between last

I have noticed between last year and this year that there is a slight change in your email address - the 'za' is no longer there although it still works?

You're right - best to raise with Admins.

DsoftDave:The fact that you

DsoftDave:

The fact that you belong to the PartnerNet group implies that you work for a reseller and have a PartnerNet Account, right?

If you logon to https://partnernet.symantec.com/ click on University -> Training.

Then select SSE, SSE+ or STS. You will find all relevant info there.

You get Certifications through Prometric, just like MCSE

I think you need to make sure your Prometric account uses the same email address as Certtracker, but beware, my Prometric email address has been changed by Microsoft when I've changed my email address with Microsoft.

Then, to make sure your Partner Accreditation exams, also taken through Prometric for STS exams, are allocated correctly I think you need to make sure your Certtracker account is a Partern account and is linked to your employer.

And then your Symaccount needs to use the same email address as certracker.

Noted

Hi Marianne,

I've entered a bug into our tracking database to have a developer investigate why the "Accredited" badge is displaying on profile pages but not posts.

update lag?

I just updated my cert tracker email last week to the same as my SymAccount. Is there just a lag before it will update or do i need to have someone do a manual update to get them synced?

Thanks

I've noticed that the certs

My certs haven't been properly updated since the big outage several weeks back. Not sure if it's the same "update lag" you're reporting but we might be experiencing the same issue.
