New Symantec System Recovery 2013 Out Now!
IT organizations face hardware, software and database / application downtime, lasting short periods of time to shutting down the business for days on a regular basis. Without adequate planning and preparation, any type of downtime can compromise a return to operations and cause financial damage as the ability to generate revenue is lost. Most organizations anticipate that unplanned downtime can — and likely will — occur at some future time. But, in today's world, the need to ensure Web-enabled 24 x 7 x 365 access to key applications is paramount. Thus planning for operational continuity and recovery from outages is rapidly becoming an urgent priority for commercial and government entities alike.

Hi Kate,

I hope BE 2012 update support for Windows Server 2012 will be out soon as well.

Good news!
That's nice that we have a product which works on Windows 2012/8 and on VMware 5.1
What updates (service packs and hotfixes) are released for Backup Exec 2012 version?
wow that's very cool.
Is that available on the Fileconnect yet ?
Kind regards,

Please be nice to me as I'm newbie in this forum.
Yes i can confirm that version 11.0.0.46600 is on https://fileconnect.symantec.com/
We have received very positive feedback for SSR 2013 from beta and RC customers
I second this sentiment! The Beta testers were really delighted with how much faster the product was and how well it recovered from interupted incremental backups. No more of those long "reconciling" statuses on incremental backups that could sometimes occur if you power off or get a network disconnect mid-backup.
The new Monitor tool was well liked too as a simple app for seeing quick last-backup-status on up to 100 machines.

I'm not so mild-mannered about SSR 2013. I had the great hope that the known bugs of SSR 2010 are fixed in the new version but they aren't.
The biggest problem I have is the following bug:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH143704
I think that's the reason why my 3TB hard disk for backing up (this has 4kb sized sectors) isn't shown in System Recovery. And so I cannot configure anything (the status messages for example). In the whole operating system (Explorer, DOS-Box etc.) the drive is shown correctly and I can use it as usual. I can even backup to the drive but is everything working fine? I'm not sure!
Has anyone else similar problems?
When does this get released for bundled users that are apart of Symantec Advanced Business Edition 4.0 Bundle?
My maintenance is current on SSR.
When can I expect to get the upgrade notice with a new serial number to download the new version from the fileconnect site?
Hi ken,
You can still download the trialware and when you get the upgrade notification and license, you then activate it. It will still work as the licensed copy till the expiration of the trial period.
I am not seeing this on FileConnect for Protection Suite Enterprise version 4.0. An ideas when it will become available here?
Yes mine also still doesn't show up anything related to SSR 2013 ?
please let us know when is this available for the SPS 4.0 subscription member.
Kind regards,
John Santana

I got mine today. I'm excited to see if the processing times are reduced. And, a new tool to learn to use. Hope it's worth it.
H
I downloaded the new version as soon as i got the licenses upgrade mailed.
I looked in the documentation for any notes on upgrading from 2011, but there seems to be nothing. Bit of a shame.
Will try to install anyway and see what happens.
You can upgrade. It's the same as it's always been - just run the installer and it will upgrade (i.e. you get the option to keep backups jobs/history etc).

Since Symantec System Recovery 2013 Management Solution is now installed via Symantec Installation Manager, please add the download of SIM to the FileConnect for System Recovery 2013. This would enable new customers to install the Management Solution quickly. Thanks!

Please take the time and mark this post as solution if it solved your problem - thanks!
The problem with this is that, if there is an updated version of the installation manager, the version on FileConnect will be out of date. It would be just another place to maintain it.
I wrote that article you referenced by the way..

Where can I get the Eval license for Symantec™ System Recovery 2013 Server Edition FREE 60-day Evaluation? Can someone help? I did not get any email from Symantec for the license.
Hi
Please visit: https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=154587
Thanks, Kate
Hi Ken -
A license key is not necessary while in the 60-day eval period. During that time, you will be able to backup, restore, offsite, etc. your test machine as long as you are backing up and restoring the same hardware - the restore to different hardware (RestoreAnyware) function is disabled in trial mode.
If you have any questions or run into any problems, please post into this forum:

We have the newest version downloaded and would like to use the Smart Reconciliation features. How do I enable and configure this?
You don't need to enable anything - this is there by default.

No support for Sharepoint 2013, any idea when that will be added?
I expetced the upgrade from 2011 to 2013 to add Server 2012 support (which it does) and current microsoft products like Exchange 2013 and Sharepoint 2013.
This is on the roadmap but no ETA at this stage I'm afraid.
