Please consider using the "Marked As Solution" and "Voting" Options to Help other Community Members...

May 04, 2009 04:34 PM

Hi folks,

As you may have noticed, there are a number of Technical Support Staff members on the forums. As I review various threads, I'm seeing many with terrific answers by community members, trusted advisors, and the technical support staff that are monitoring these boards.

If your question is answered, please remember to click on the "mark as solution" under the reply that solves your issue. If you review a reply that has merit, and helps to solve the original question, please use the voting feature - this will help other community members see a particular thread has received votes - which often helps users.. The filtering on "solved" threads will also greatly increase the usefulness of this feature within the forums.

All in all, this functionality will help make the community a more "solutions" oriented site and bring the best content "up to the top."

Thank you,

Eric

hear is my opinion...
why not also give maybe:

0.1 points for the one that made the forum
0.2 points for the one that made the Blog
0.5 points for the one that made the Article

that would give credit to the one that made the most talk about thread...
at least making ttraffic to this site...
what do you say guys...

Ciao...

Hi Team,

Hope that admins could also give extra credit to posted solutions added to their 5 pt. reply.
Hope that they too give added points to those that posted relevant and very useful questions added to the 5 pt reply.
Hope that we could not vote for our replies by ourselves. (unethical).
Hope that those who follow up issues would also get rewards since they are pushing for results.
Hope that the .5 point be deducted to anyone who gives a minus rating to a fellow member so that if negative votes are given, it really means the truth.
other than that, all sounds well.

thanks.

Really looking forward to this new point based system. I think it will add tremendous value to the blogs and articles.

Riva11,

We will be rolling out a new points system that does reward more points based on "merit" or quality of comment - it's being reviewed now by our TAs.  You should see it in a couple weeks, but please continue to use the "solved" and "vote" feature when appropriate.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions - you'll see them "live" soon.

Best,

Eric

I agree to click on the "mark as solution", for voting system I think could be better change simply vote Positive or Negative with a numeric vote like 1 to 5 ( 1= poor, ...5= excellent) .
The current voting system doesn't measure the real value about the content.

Paolo

Hi folks,

Yes, all great ideas, and they will be incorporated.  Tejas, if a "new" question is posed, it should then be another thread.  Consider "solved" threads as the "holy grail"...

Best,

Eric

Solutions should have options like, Solved Completely, Partially etc. Something that sort of.

As generally we do not get 100% solutions, or sometimes the initial solution brings another question/problem.

In the spirit of our new point system, I was thinking it might be a good idea to reward those users more points for posts that answer other peoples problems. Also it might be a good idea to reward the person who posted the issue for selecting the post that answers their problem. It would just be a good incentive for people to post feedback as to which post really helped them the most in solving their issue.

Just an idea,
Grant-
