I encountered an issue a few weeks back that was a little strange, but I didn't need to pursue it as my Windows Server 2008 VirtualBox VM Decided to die upon installing some Software Update, but yesterday a customer contacted me on the very same issue.

The problem is that you cannot install Asset Management Suite via SIM after CMS was installed. The error occurs on the InstallReadiness check named "Upgrade Required".

The readiness check is encrypted so we cannot exactly see what it is verifying and what is failing, but I have a case going to backline to check this right now.

Let's see what the error comes from, but as I answered the customer today: No, there is no incompatibility between AMS and CMS 7.1 SP2.

Hi Lodovic,

Try skipping install readiness and see what happens in your test environment

To disable the check for SIM prerequisites:

Add the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\AIM to the registry.
Create a DWord called IgnoreInstallPrerequisites and set the value to 1.

To enable the Next button if any of the install Readiness checks fail:

Add the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Altiris\AIM\InstallRea dinessCheck\ to the registry. Create a DWord called EnableNextbutton and set the value to 1

Thanks

Viswa

It wasn't me that had the problem, and yes, the customer got thru with the EnableNextButton workaround.

Still, it would be interesting to know why the UpgradeCheck fails :D.

I am currently off-net, on a retreat of some kind. I'll be back real soon, and you sure will hear from me then ;-).

Did you use SIM with a german locale (or any other locale beside en-us - don't know about that)?

When we use german locale the readiness check fails somehow (cannot verify certificates ...) and you cannot continue.

When we switch to en-us everything is fine.

I can't tell exactly, but the problem was reported by a German partner.
