Preface:
Ghost was not designed to work with solid state drives. The recommendations below may or may not work in a given environment, though they have been tested and verified on at least some machines. Please not that before trying this in a production environment, you should try this in a test environment so as to not risk data loss.

This is either due to a lack of network drivers, or due to the drive mapping command, net use, executing too early in the boot sequence.

Some machines using Intel's ICH9 and ICH10 SATA Controllers, such as Dell Optiplex 755 and 760 machines, have been seen to not work with the storage controller drivers in the Ghost database. The error encountered is typically "To virtual partition: failed. Drivers could not be found in the PreOS for the following devices...", and it names the Intel SATA controller.

There are some hardware setups that require using a different version of WIndows PE than WIndows PE 2.0, which is what the Ghost Boot Wizard in Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 uses. The disadvantage to using custom Windows PE boot disks is that some options that are available in the boot wizard are either not available, or it is not intuitive to include.

I have had issues with the HP Elitebook 8530P machines and I wanted to share the resolution I found:

To resolve this issue, you will need to use Windows PE as the PreOS, add the latest driver for the Intel card and add some disk access command line switches.

This error can occur when you are trying to automate a Ghostcast session with the -sure switch. What is going on is that the the disk is not specified. In a non-automated Ghostcast session, the user specifies the source (for image cration) or destination (for image restore).

Due to limited memory, installing a Ghost client on these devices will fail. 1-click virtual partition boot media tends to fail, as well. Here is a method to backup and restore to an iGel Thin Client:

1. Create a Standard Ghost Boot Package using PC-DOS on a USB flash drive.
