There's been a minor update to the behavior of applying a Layer Patch Archive (VPA) in Symantec Workspace Virtualization 6.1 SP1. When you apply a VPA to a layer either in place or new layer with the option to port over the user SID areas any link files (.LNK) in the Read-Write Sub-layer will get deleted.
We made this change because of how certain applications behaved when applying updates. In some instances new shortcuts were laid down up the update or the location old ones were pointing at changed, which would cause a conflict between the updated Read-Only Sub-layer and the old information in the Read-Write Sub-Layer.
For the most part this change should be transparent to everyone as the only scenario where you're not going to have all the LNK files in the Read-Only Sub-layer is when you have a custom shortcut in the Read-Write Sub-layer.
This change only affects the Apply Patch process and won't invalidate any existing VPAs you may already have.
