Today, I have some updates and great tips to share... .

Talking about the Connect metrics, we see some pretty steady numbers since the site launched. This indicates that our community is continuing to grow and be healthy. The response rate to the threads have greatly improved, especially on the Backup and Archiving boards compared to the past. Thank you all for your time and effort.

One feature that is not being used to the fullest is the ability to post the thread "SOLVED". Users who initiate the thread, along with the TA's, Managers and Moderators, have the capability to post the thread as "Solved". In doing so, this feature becomes handy, particularly when others are looking for a solution for similar problems they have with the products. Also, it gives us all a clear picture on how successful the community is in solving those issues. Every post on the community has the feature enabled. So, if you posted a question and think that someone's reply to it has resolved your problem, please take a second to "Mark  it as a Solution".

Another feature that is yet be utilized to the fullest is the "VOTING" feature. This Voting feature is a very simple yet wonderful tool to distinguish between the "Good and Bad". Every post on the community has this feature enabled. All you have to do is take a second to either mark the post with a Thumbs-up or Thumbs-Down. It's as easy as that. And remember that you would get 0.5 points for every vote.

So, let's promise ourselves that we will utilize these great features to the fullest!

I tried marking a thread solved and it worked fine. I didn't realize I had this ability as a TA.
I will try to remember this for the future but I don't have time to go back into history and mark threads.
I have been using the voting for both thumbs up and thumbs down.

I find the "Solved" feature really helpful and I've already tagged my previous post, where I found an answer that solved my issue.
Hope that it helps next Connect users with the same issue.

Glad you like the feature!  The general idea is that "Mark as Solution" is for a comment that best solved the problem, while votes are a way to say, "this comment was helpful, but not quite everything I was looking for."

I should also clarify that the "Mark as Solution" option is available to the following users:

Admins & Moderators
Trusted Advisors
The Community member that initially started the thread (or asked the question)

Hi Team,

If both posted different alternative solutions that worked, who shall be getting the Solution mark? Would both of them be tagged as a solution? Just clarifying.

Thanks.

Hello!

We cannot mark two posts on a same thread as a solution. Here comes the "VOTING" feature handy. Give a thumbs up if you think that the comments have some great information to share.

Thanks,
Swathi

@G_70508: maybe that is the time we vote...

@SwathiTurlapaty: Nice concept team...
clear as crystall...
how many vote does the forum register per day?
if we reached the voting limit for the day? does the new vote count as a negative?
if we give a negative vote will it deduct points from us?
last questions of mine in this thread.
thanks.

We don't have a voting limit per day. And all negative votes do not deduct points.

Thanks,

Why did I lose the ability to mark a forum thread as solved?

You should still have that capability, Bob - I just checked a demo account we have set up for Trusted Advisors and the option to "Mark as Solution" is still available.  Can you check one more time to verify that it's not there for you?  If it's still a bug, start a new thread in the "Symantec Connect" board and we'll see what we can figure out.
