ENVIRONMENT

NETBACKUP = 7.1

OS = WIN2008

EXCHANGE = 2003

Problem

Before upgrading the Veritas Netbackup Server from 6.5.5 to 7.1 the information Store backup was running successful. After upgrading the Veritas Netbackup Server I was facing the below error when I triggered the Exchange2003 Backup of Information Store. See the below Activity Monitor for reference:

invalid filelist specification(69)

Cause

When I saw the Veritas Netbackup Server prerequisites OR setting on Netbackup Server for Exchange Server Backup after upgrade I was not able to see the old setting on Veritas Netbackup Server. What I feel and discussed on the CONNECT forum it feels like that the registery lost while upgrade.

Resolution

Reconfigure the setting of Netbackup Server again. See the below for reference:

Create a Domain user

Add this user in to Domain Administrators Group

Make this use the Local Administrator

From Exchange Server delegate this user Full Exchange Admin rights

Add the user in the Netbackup Management=> Host properties=>Clients=>Exchange Server=>See below Red color where you specify the user account

Note:

In the below article you can see the Mailboxes in the Backup Selection TAB of Netbackup Policy but in the case of IS backup we should be able to see the IS (as we can see the Mailboxes in the Mailboxes Backup Policy)

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/exchange-backup-and-restore-netbackup-65-part-ii

There may be many aspects or reasons of above error but this could be one reason which I hope I tried to elaborate well.

I had this kind of expirience just today. What I did is I reconfigured the NBU client services log on and use the domain admin or exchange admin account.
