Well, it seems that my Vision 2010 trip will be extra long this year with a built in (not voluntary) vacation. Air space of northern Europe is closed and my flight grounded.

Vegas - I will be around for 5 more days before I MAYBE get a change to go home.

I wondered how many of our friends from europe would be stranded in Vegas....I really feel for you, that's got to be rough.
Five days?  Wow.  I didn't realize it would be THAT long.  When are they telling you that you'll be cleared to go?

Any other vision attendees still hanging around the MGM due to cancelled flights home?

There is no way of knowing how long the volcano in Iceland is going to be spewing out volcanic ash into the upper atmosphere. Estimates range from a few days to a couple of years. Looking at the movement of the low pressure system over Iceland at the moment, it does not look good for Europe over the next few days if the ash continues to be discharged into the air. Might be worth looking into whether there might be flights sooner into Ireland or the Northern UK from where you may be able to use land/sea based transportation to get home, as the cloud has shifted slightly today to cover more of Europe and also the Southern UK. Weekend patterns may bring the cloud back over the whole UK, so the situation continues to be uncertain.
Having said that, UK ferry services and the channel tunnel railway to France are seeing record bookings and the tunnel is fully booked this weekend already. No doubt additional services will be provided as most of our airports continue to be closed until Saturday morning when the next review will take place.

I'm stuck in Vegas untill at least the 25th before I can get back to Europe.
Maybe we should ask Symantec and the Vision team to do an Ilumi drink session for all attendees that are still stuck in Vegas.
I hat to pay over 1000 Dollar just to stay in a hotel. Continental did not do anything for us except getting us on a flight almost 8 day's later.

@Erikw - What a splendid idea. I have contact with two guys who is stuck also. I guess that makes us a part of at least 4.

SAS are flying to and from the US, but planes are being diverted to open air ports in Scandinavia. If my plane on Wednesday is canceled as well, I will be looking for a ship to sail me to Europe.

Right now in Cortyard Marriot at Henderson, from tuesday back at South Pointe.

Comfort Inn - 4350 Paradise Road.

MGM raised the room rate to 500$ per night due to the Country Music Award. What a rip off .....

New York New York.
paid 900 dollar for 7 nights in great room in new yorker tower, and they are now looking to give us complimentary passes for a show, and we got lots of tickets for a free drink at the ROK and/or the Piano bar.
Great support from them, and we have strip view.
We are stuck untill the 25th.

and sailing back. That would sure scare the Icelanders (just don't chop down their trees, it's taken forever for them to grow back).

I have a particular affinity for the island as I lived\was stationed there (there is a difference) in 1991, when the NATO base was in full swing. It's a great place, with some very cool and gracious people. The double whammy of the financial crisis and this volcano is tough to read.

Hopefully you all make it back, safe and sound.

Hope you guys will be home SOON!!
I'm glad that you are at least not stuck in an airport terminal like lots of people here in South Africa needing to get back to Europe....

I just realised that the flight ban affects me as well - we have tickets for the Andre Rieu show in South Africa this coming weekend, but they're still stuck in Europe!

For everybody who is get stuck, make the best out of it.
I traveled to Vision with my Wife, and we are desperaly seeking a solution for our kids at home. Our babysit is now taking care for the kids, but they did not expected it to be for over 20 day's instead of 10.
Well, I'm at New York New York hotel in Vegas, enjoying some stripview and also managed it to get some clean underwear and socks for the next 7 day's.

Now I'm just have to find a solution for my kids.

I am sorry to hear about your'e kids. I must be a stress. I myself have two kids waiting for me. But my wife is with them, so I know they are good (no comfort for you I know).  I do hope you can get a flight home very soon !!!!!

I also ran out of clean clothes, but with a little help from Macy and CVS/Pharmacy I am on top again ;-)

Thanxs for your kind words Nicolai, and I also hope that everybody can get home soon.
As for me i called Continental as I found out that people that people that are stuck have to wait over 1 week before they can get a flight and that the airlienrs also sell tickets for sooner dates at very high prices.
United wanted to charge 10.786 dollars per ticket for a flight on wednesday from washington to Amsterdam.

During my phone call I became very angry as i hate that companies try to get a lot of money from people that are in misery.
So during my call I got transferred to a manager, and he helped me.
Continetal put me on their costs on the flight of United (BTW in a Continental plane Hmm) and i will fly at 01pm this night to Houston, then to Washington and then straight home.
My wife almost hit the ceiling when she heard about it.
Now we will be back on thursday when the plane can start. Amsterdam is now fully cleared, so without any new eruption I'm outta here.

What happens in Vegas stay's in vegas, but im gone.
Cheers and to every body.
Good luck on getting home to your beloved ones.

Are you also flying to Washington? Would be great to see eachother over there and grab a cup of Starbucks.
What time are you ine, and much more important!
Are you also ready to get home?
That would definetly be great.

I visited Microsoft Management Summit today. Some people that we are working with gave me their passes, and I talked to several people on the Summit.
Cheers erik, and i really hope everybody can get out as soon as possible.
