In the SVS context, what does "Identity Aware" mean?

Q:
Julie asked: Can you tell me a bit more about why/how the VSPs are not "identity aware"? I'm taking this to mean that the virtual packages, once deployed, are available for every user on the computer. Is this correct?

A:
You're right Julie. In the future, we will expose packages based on who is logged in, including on multi-user machines, and will also give each user their own writeable sublayer, so that a thousand people, for example, can each share one package yet each have their own configuration options.

Groups?

Hello,

Will there be the possibility to assign rights and configs to groups (AD and/or NS groups/collections)??
Or just individual user?

Grtz!!

Needs Update...

Boy, that item needs updating. We added support for User Profiles before SVS 2.0 shipped, so that SVS works correctly with user-based management tools.

We've also provided the SVS login hook, which allows you to execute layer functions based on winlogon events.

Further, Scense and AppStream have added native SVS support to their user-based management.

And of course development on Altiris NS 7, with user-based policies, continues.
