Symantec and Dell Extend Partnership with Dell Management Console
Earlier today, Dell announced the release of Dell Management Console as part of the Dell 11g server launch. Dell Management Console (DMC) is the new systems management console built on Symantec's Management Platform that unifies monitoring and management for all Dell servers, storage and clients through a single browser window. It also unites systems management processes, allowing businesses to save time, money, and resources which can then be redirected to strategic profits.
DMC will ship with every server Dell sells. Dell's previous management console, IT Assistant, shipped with over 2,500,000 servers worldwide last year alone!
Dell's decision to use Symantec's Management Platform validates the strength of Symantec's technology, architecture, and brand. Through the Symantec Management Platform, many of Symantec's products will simply "snap in" to the Dell Management Console, including Altiris Client Management Suite 7.0 and Altiris Server Management Suite 7.0, and will provide a platform to add products such as Symantec Endpoint Protection, BackupExec, BackupExec System Recovery, BackupExec Infrastructure Manager, Veritas Configuration Manager, and Vontu.
Symantec and Dell have a close collaboration to develop open systems management solutions that reduce complexity to let companies focus on their business needs. Dell Management Console, powered by Altiris from Symantec, allows companies to manage other leading systems management solutions with a single view of their total IT environment.
