In February, Symantec announceda partnership with Level Platformsto develop a policy module that would give our channel partners the ability to remotely manage and monitor Backup Exec for their customers.  The Level Platform relationship is part of our strategy to provide our channel partners, particularly Managed Service Providers (MSPs), with more choice and flexibility.  A further example is the planned  roll outof a Backup Exec appliance and cloud based solution.  This diversification of Backup Exec comes to satisfy the demands of a market that requires a flexible solution to meet our customers’ individual needs.

In keeping with the Level Platforms announcement, Symantec will soon offer new integration with remote management and monitoring (RMM) platform provider Kaseya to provide additional tools for our partners, again with a focus on MSPs.  Our partners will not only benefit from the new flavors of Backup Exec, but they can also leverage these RMM partnerships to better remotely manage and monitor their customers’ backup infrastructures.

Through our partnership with Kaseya, Symantec MSPs will benefit from delivering Backup Exec as a remote service thereby reducing costs associated with site visits to customers., This technology also offers greater visibility into users’ backup environments.  Now, our MSPs will be able to monitor their users in real time to make sure backups are successful and user data is available in the event of a disaster.  These benefits ensure our partners can deliver predictable profitability.

Our customers have relied on Backup Exec for years to protect their data in both physical and virtual environments.  The new tools we are providing will give our partners the ability to ensure the highest degree of data protection, while also providing a customized and flexible backup environment.

Both The VAR Guy and MSPmentor look forward to hearing about more Symantec-MSP software integrations -- offering regular insights on and

Thanks again for the tidbit on Symantec-Kaseya.

Awesome!  This has been wanted in the VAR space for a long time!

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."
