Licensing Details:

Ø  Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 Entitlement Certificates sent via email will include live activation License Keys as well as the quantity of the entitlements

Ø  Customers who had previously purchased the BESR Granular Restore Option (GRO) will receive 1 BESR 2010 Server Edition license per Granular Restore Option

Licensing Overview

Ø  Backup Exec System Recovery is licensed on a per-system basis.

o    For example, if you have 20 servers you want to protect with Backup Exec System Recovery, you would need to purchase 20 licenses of Backup Exec System Recovery Server Edition.

o    If you have 100 desktops, you would purchase 100 licenses of Backup Exec System Recovery Desktop Edition.

o    Backup Exec System Recovery Granular Restore Option is now included in BESR Server Edition, BESR 2010 Starter Kit, and BESR 2010 for Windows SBS Edition

o   Backup Exec System Recovery Virtual Edition: Purchase a single license of the Backup Exec System Recovery Virtual Edition and protect an unlimited number of virtual guest machines per host. (1 license per host)

Ø  Backup Exec System Recovery Server Edition (includes GRO) – Per Windows Server

Ø  Version upgrades are available under this program to users with active maintenance on any previous version of Backup Exec System Recovery

Ø  Competitive upgrades are available to customers with system recovery solutions.  Among the vendors who provide these solutions are CommVault, Computer Associates, Tivoli, Acronis, PlateSpin.

Ø  Note: Existing customers with maintenance will receive a letter from Symantec directing them to a URL (https://fileconnect.symantec.com/licensing/) where they will select a language, enter their serial number and can then download the product directly or request that a physical CD be mailed to them. Upgrade notification ID also includes the license keys for their upgrade product.

Ø  Sixty (60) day Evaluation copies of Backup Exec System Recovery can be downloaded directly from the Symantec web site. The 60 day evaluation copies are fully functional and include the Symantec Recovery Disk as a download component.
