Earlier this week at Sun Microsystems' MySQL Conference & Expo, Symantec was presented with one of Sun's annual MySQL awards. Sun's MySQL team selected Symantec's Brightmail software as the "MySQL Application of the Year." According to Sun, the MySQL Application of the Year award is given to "the developers of some of the best production applications that showcase MySQL's innovative features and provide tangible benefits to their organization and its users."

Symantec and Sun have been close partners and collaborators for many years. The combination of Symantec’s Brightmail software and Sun’s MySQL provides a complete solution for service providers that increases value in key areas such as performance, effectiveness and TCO. Symantec’s Brightmail range of products are leading providers of antispam and antivirus capabilities to the largest service providers as well as to enterprises from small-businesses to the Global 1000.

The MySQL awards are designed to highlight some of Sun's best customers, partners and open source community contributors.
