Symantec Celebrates Diversity Week
Last week, Symantec employees around the globe marked Diversity Week, an internal celebration focusing on increasing employees' cultural competence and expanding their global view. Over 1,300 employees attended at least one of 10 webinars and 29 workshops hosted around the globe. Cross functional teams of presenters and panelists from Singapore, Beijing, India, Ireland, the UK, and the U.S. hosted events to help all of us better understand our cultural lens, the impact of culture in the workplace, and steps we can take to increase our understanding of our customers and colleagues around the globe.
Participants in Diversity Week learned that the first step towards productive engagement with people from other cultures is awareness that we may have different styles, and that we may not view the world - and how we should communicate or behave in it - in the same way. They also learned that it’s important to take time to learn about other cultures and to think about and welcome differing perspectives.

but whats the link of the Diversity Week with Swamiji?
Is there a specific reason Mr. Enrique's note on this subject more or less just focuses on Women as a part of diverse workforce? Just wanted to ask you what are Symantec's policies as it relates to a ethnically diverse workforce.
Symantec’s Diversity Initiative encompasses all dimensions of diversity. We have Diversity Chapters set up in regions around the globe and each region focuses on topics relevant to their part of the world. The US concept of ethnic minorities does not apply, for example, in Japan. In the global view, we focus on women because the underrepresentation of women in technology is a relevant diversity issue around the globe.
Thanks Ellen. Can you kindly let me know a contact for the Diversity Chapter in US - specifically one for Symantec WW HQ Employees in CUP or Mountain View.
A fantastic week, Ellen, and a good blog post! &: )
The following public resources on Symantec's website will be of interest to those looking to learn more about the company's commitment to Corporate Responsibility and to Diversity and Inclusion.
With thanks and best regards,
Mick
