Symantec Encryption Releases 3.3.1/10.3.1
In this release, we support Windows 8, increase our Linux platform support, and as always improve security whenever appropriate.  Here’s a summary of what’s new:

  • Support Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise editions 32- and 64-bit versions, for Symantec Drive Encryption both BIOS and UEFI systems (only 64-bit for UEFI), Desktop Email Encryption, File Share Encryption, and Encryption Desktop utilities (PGP Virtual Disk, ZIP, and Shredder)
  • Desktop Email Encryption compatibility with Microsoft Outlook 2013, both 32- and 64-bit versions
  • Desktop Email Encryption compatibility with Microsoft Office 365 Cloud Server when using a supported email client
  • Mac OS X 10.8.3 and 10.8.4 support for Symantec Drive Encryption and Symantec Desktop Email Encryption
  • Symantec Drive Encryption support for Linux.  This now includes Red Hat Enterprise 5.9, 6.3, and 6.4 (32- and 64-bit).  Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (32- and 64-bit) is supported as well.

We realize we are somewhat late with Windows 8 support, but we will only release a product based on quality vs. a timeline.  As part of the quality assurance, we thoroughly tested this latest release both internally at Symantec and via our Beta program.  The public Beta consisted of a broad range of customers.  Many of these customers are large with complex environments spanning various verticals from education, health care, financial services, and even government agencies.

Unfortunately the trials are only the general release versions of the product. We have another general release coming out soon, which will contain the same improvements.

OK that is surely what I need, but it seems I can't get the MP1 unless I have purchased a license.  The trialware is the 10.3.1 version (not the MP1) and from the article, It sends me a submit serial page (which I don't have)...

I want to test it works on my setup before I buy the license, but I can only download the MP1 when I have the serial (license)...

gridlocked. :(

Make sure you have secure boot disabled, to call it fully supported in the current release version would be a misnomer, but I have seen customers having it working provided secure boot is disabled.

That said if you have a support contract, submit a case if it isn't working with secure boot disabled so we can get specifics to dev on your environment.

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH174563

Mac OS X 10.9 - Mavericks

10.3.1 MP1

CAUTION: Do not attempt to install any version of Symantec Encryption Desktop prior to 10.3.1 MP1 on Mavericks, as this is unsupported and may cause a system to become unbootable as well as other unexpected behavior.

How about suuport for Win 8.1 and Office 2013.  I tried the Symantec Dekstop Email Encryption (PGP) trialware on my 64bit OS/Outlook and it didn't work.

Whole Disk Encryption works just fine on SSD drives. It's well supported, just make sure it's not a self encrypting drive, or disable that feature if it is.

Product purchase page still says it is not

I have a windows 7 netbook I am thinking of moving to win8. Debating just getting a win8 tablet. If I do either I will want whole disk/ full disk encryption
Sidebar, I've been told to avoid ssd disks when using whole disk encryption, correct or not?

Can you tell me where the "Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.1 Recovery Image" for this new version can be downloaded from?

I found 10.3.0, but where is 10.3.1 ?

Thanx
