Since pcA 12.6.7 HF1 is listed in SIM, is it a recommended install?  Anyone take the plunge and loaded it yet?  Would appreciate any feedback on side-effects or issues you've come across.  Thanks in advance!

The install went without issues and my clients upgraded just fine.

As yet, none of my customers have raised any problems concerning this HF.

Can anyone confirm if session encryption can be disabled in the new host and client via policy like Support promised me (and probably plenty of others) when 12.6.7 was introduced and caused us all these headaches with older versions of PCA. My company doesn't care about AES-based session encryption if our offsite clients, accessed through an (existing) encrypted VPN tunnel, can't be remote controlled by other devices within our network because the connection is just a little too slow. I don't care if we can disable the install of the quick connect client, if that's the only advantage to HF1 it's a waste of everyone's time and an insult to those of us who had to go through the 12.6.7 update.

After reviewing DOC6435, I have not found anything that mentions this, so please let me know the Case # that includes the Support "promise" you have mentioned and I will look into it for you.

The advantage of implementing HF1 are its 2 new features and 16 fixes.

We only connect to clients through the console & we'd like our clients not to have the quick connect shortcut.

From the doc

Known issue

From a Host Only client computer, if you use Symantec Management Console to connect to another client computer, the connection is not successful. However, the computer prompts you first to install the pcARemote.exe that is not required on the Host Only client computer and then restart the client computer. Even if pcARemote.exe runs, the remote functionality is not installed.

Does this mean our techs need the quick connect option in order to connect remotely through the console, so we have to manage 2 upgrade policies, one for techs and one host only for everyone else?

Yes, it is true that if we have host only client machine (without QuickConnect option) then we are not able to do remote control by any means (even using SMP console also). The purpose of host only is to prohibit user from accessing that machine as a Remote. So you will need to manage 2 upgrade policies one for the user who wants that machine to use as Remote and one for the user who wants to use it as host only.

Thanks.
