Now a days there are so many choice in Antivirus market, not like earlier days when Norton and Mcafee were the only ones .So How many of you still think that  Symantec  Antivirus are the best of the rest. How many have tried other Antivirus product and found not so good  and which are those antivirus products.

there are a few threads

there are a few threads started by others where many people contend that SEP Enterprise, and now SEP SBE, with it's more user friendly configuration, etc., are the cream of the crop.  You'd expect me to say that, but take a look at the threads "Done with Symantec Product" and a few others - you'll see plenty of folks who have left SEP, only to return again...

Best,

Eric

But Sir

From Jan 2009 to till date I have submited 25 no of virus which symantec was unable to detect while others did.
I have already sent those tracking nos. to one of you officials in india.

Do you still think I should believe SEP is better than others.

survey

lets put it this way, all the recent reviews and bake-offs have showed SEP is doing extremely well. Much better than SAV did against its competitors.

yes.. we also need to know

yes.. we also need to know because... this is the path that we are taking...
being experts for Symantec security products...
but who would be the best group or people to become judge for this?
As for me, since we move to SEP, we are doing well...
thank God...

This is one of the links I

This is one of the links I found:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/124475/top_antivirus_software.html

But then, this is only for home use which is different when protecting at an enterprise level. There are fewer entry points for malwares and there are no policies.
System requirements is clearly an issue here since not all companies can upgrade a thousand PCs at the same time in just one year.

Found another one...

"
According to the on-demand scanning tests, McAfee VirusScan and Symantec Endpoint Protect both had detection perfect scores with no false positive detections. Coming in right behind those two products were GDATA Anti-virus and Frisk F-PROT with perfect detection scores but some problems wth false positives. Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Pro, BitDefender Antivirus 2008, and Bullguard 8.0 all earned high marks too for overall performance.

No problem, Nel. I'd like to again reiterate my point that the link only reviews AVs for home use.

Hi Jobert, that was the link I found when Googling. This was a scenario I had when the company asks me to choose for an AV solution to replace our old one. So I just used the keywords: top antivirus. I guess most would also use those keywords when selecting an AV. Maybe add another keyword like corporate or business to narrow it down. I even have the review/report I made somewhere in my hard drive. But this was in 2005.

Symantec is Still a World Leader

Symantec is still a world leader in Antivirus area all the big shot companies use Either SAV or SEP.
When Endpoint was new to the market people did not upgrade they remained with sav till SEP quality test was passed.
Symantec Endpoint is best Enterprise product because of its less False Positive.
Now coming to detection rate

Thinking from a Malware Programmers Point of view
A Malware is made for mass destruction,
Why are the Vulnerabilties found in Windows,Yahoo Messenger,Orkut,Face Book
because they are best in Market a Exploit will have maximum effect.
So why should I create a virus which gets detected by Symantec.
Even they know the detection techniques and all sp they create a virus that does not get detected by symantec even if gets detected by smaller AV companies it wont harm them because the mass is either using SAV,SEP or Norton.
Inspite of that Symantec is still holding the number one position so you can think what efficient the Symantec Security respnse and the developers are

Creating a signature for virus is not that easy as we think.
Symantec Security response has to break the codes of the virus which are created by group of genius people but with the wrong intention.

Athough I cannot be 100% sure

Athough I cannot be 100% sure that Symantec is the best protection money can buy. I have to agree with what Vikram said in virus authors targeting Symantec among other AVs out there simply because it is one of the widely used products in the enterprise market.

And while people blame the AV for poor performance, or maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. Nobody here even blames Windows for having all these security holes. It seems that we have already resigned to the fact the the OS will forever be plagued by problems and that more will surface. And to top it off, they have resources that should be bigger than Symantec and still we have to wait for 'Patch Tuesday' for the fix. How's that for giving malwares a headstart.

Symantec still remains No.1

For me nothing can compare the power of Symantec Antivirus, because unlike any other antivirus Symantec is always updated up to the latest Virus Definition. And it has a very strong sense when it comes to detecting a virus where the other cannot identify or detect it as a virus...

thanks Zayree for that kind

thanks Zayree for that kind comment...
just remember that there is no complete featured AV that would be 100% effective...
but there are virus solutions that would compliment your company... like Symantec's end point solution.. it works for us thats why i totally agree with you 100%.

thanks..
