The month of October has seen some of the significant product updates to Symantec VIP. Here is a summary of what’s new.
VIP Third-Party Integrations
Symantec VIP provides almost 25 enterprise third party application plug-ins integrating seamlessly with industry standard VPNs, enterprise access manager and single sign on products, remote desktop access products, end-point authentication modules over Windows, Linux and other Unix platforms. We enhanced the following plug-ins as part of our release this month:
- Microsoft Internet Information Server 7.x – Last month we released a version of plugin for Microsoft Internet Information Server 7.x with support for well-known enterprise applications like Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services 2.0, Microsoft Outlook 2010 Web Access, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Microsoft Remote Desktop Web Access. This month we enhanced the functionality of the plug-in to support:
- IIS 7.x on Windows 2008 Server
- Microsoft Outlook Web Access 2007
This release also includes fixes for certain bugs reported in the previous releases.
- Pluggable Authentication Module (PAM) – PAM provides a modular stack for custom authentication integration to the Unix platforms for both console or remote shell access and file transfer applications. VIP is integrated into the PAM authentication stack for RedHat Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX platforms through a plug-in module. In this release we have extended the plug-in to support RedHat Enterprise Linux 6.2 and 6.3.
