Both dynamic and static IPs are supported by Intel® AMT clients, yet it is best that both the host operating system and ME (e.g. Intel® AMT Management Engine) use the same setting. Not all client environments use DHCP for IP addressing, thus both modes need to be supported.
Intel® AMT hostnames are most often set to match the Guest Operating System (OS) hostname. In some production environments, IT operations are using an underscore "_" in their guest OS naming convention. This is viewed as an illegal name by Intel® AMT and according to RFC952.
Since Serial-over-LAN (SoL) uses first available COM port (usually 3, sometimes 4) - if a client computer has a device which also uses this COM port (e.g. card reader, infrared reader, printer, etc) - it will experience a COM port conflict.
