It would have been nice for you and your company to not mislead your customers on your intentions for your support of Snow Leopard.  You abandoned the other post over 4 months ago where you indicated that the update was being worked on.  We are now finding out that the product is still in Beta. You have not responded to one of the posts about keeping us informed of progress.

In case you have forgotten here is the link and your comments over 18 weeks ago.

Snow Leopard support being working on now.

Hello

Sorry about the delay. The changes for backing up OS X 10.6  were bigger than we thought. We are working on it now though and should have something in the near future. No promises, but I would like to see this released in next 30 days.

Subscribe to this post for notifications and Ill change the status to "Implemented" when its ready. You will then be able to just run LiveUpdate in BE 2010 to get it.

Hi David,

All very valid points and our apologies on that. We just were not prepared to tackle the amount of changes needed to support 10.6. I think we are finally on the right track now but you will be the judge and jury on that. If you have some time, we would love to have your feedback on the Beta and let us know how well it is working.

We will obviously try to do a better job keeping everyone informed of our progress in the future.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Peter

Would it be possible to add a option to the SQL agent allowing backup and truncate within the same job?   An example would be running a truncate immediately after the backup of the sql server completes.

I have been trying to use BESR2010 for 6 months still don’t have a backup or an idea how to use the program
Every time I find time to work on BESR some small thing stops me I spend the rest of the day on hold waiting for support the last call 30 minutes before I got case number
Then 127 minutes in the call there was a click and I got cut off I called back and 123 minutes later I got a tech who knew less about the product than me and put it off to 2nd level support
I still haven’t heard from them

The integration with the SBS Console seems to be an issue that Symantec doesnt want to address in it's Small Business Server Product Range.

Having recently installed (and purchased for a client) both Symantec End Point protection Suite for Small Business Server 2008 and Backup Exec 2010 Small Business Server Suite I am somewhat disapointed to report that the Integration with the SBS2008 Console is not just lacking but almost totally non existant.

There are work arounds but to be Honest the Small Business Owner (at which SBS is targeted) doesnt have time to drudge through work arounds nor for that matter do Small business server installers! SBS 2008 has wizards for everything that the Small Business owner needs to do - so why doesn't Symantec follow this lead from Microsoft?

Despite numerous posts on the web regarding the SBS Console (which is where the Business owner wants to get the status of his server) showing warnings about backups Symantec has done zip to addres this issue!

Want to use SEP with SBS 2008 - you have to disable the Windows firewall - what do you end up with YES another warning in the SBS Console. Sure you can work around this if you RTFM but I dont know many business owners who have time to delve through the manuals and/or the web looking for this?

If Symantec is going to promote its products "for Smal Business Serer 2008" isnt it about time that they delivered true integration with Small Business Server 2008?

I noticed the ad for this but the date on your post is from June 2010... Is this still in beta or has it been released?

Max, perhaps BE2010 beta is closed as the product went GA last year. If you are interested in any of the recent betas please check out the most recent Backup blogs.  Thanks!

Ah, ok. You might want to delete the link that says "Help shape the future of Backup Exec" on this page then:

Hi everyone:

Where do I find BESR 2010 SP1.  I have some servers with Windows 2008 R2 and current Livestate 2010 corrupted and I cannot even un-install it; any suggestions?

Thanks, Matt
