Three Vendors vs. One

Feb 19, 2012 05:25 PM

We’ve recently been competing against a trio of vendors claiming to have parity with us w/r/t capabilities. First, let me offer a visual response. Okay, got that out of the way. If you’ve used one of these machines, that picture was worth 1,000 words.

If you’re confronted with a choice between the best and three of the rest, here are some things to think about:

  1. If they tell you “we’re FIPS, Nukona’s not”. Well, Apple has certified both their hardware and software AES encryption for iOS5. Nobody else has. There is another vendor who certified for 3.1.3, just in case you’re still running that version of iOS.
  2. If you want MDM, you probably fall into one of two camps: (a) you want simple & easy to use, or (b) you want the full-blown MDM feature set. If the former, you can just use ours at no extra cost. If the latter, go get a top-tier MDM solution, don’t settle for also-ran. We can co-exist with anything, including the best.
  3. As soon as we coined the term “app wrap” it got pasted on every MDM or app store vendor’s web site. Apples are not oranges, however. We can enforce policies around authentication and encryption with NO developer involvement. Even more powerful than that, we can also enforce these policies such that the iOS frameworks are subject to them as well. Nobody else can do that. If they say they can, have them wrap an app that uses UIWebView and have them show you (using a jailbroken iPhone) that the cookies are all encrypted. Not gonna happen.
Why buy parts when you can have a solution?
