Using an Alternate Port for the NS Client

If you decide to change the default port the NS client uses to communicate with the server, you should know that even if you specify http://myserver:newport/altiris, Software Delivery Solution won't read the new port.

The snapshot file will be published according to your IIS primary port setting and not any others.

There is no known way to avoid this. This can cause a problem if a client/server doesn't have access to both ports while you are still migrating other clients/servers or if you have multiple Web sites published on different ports on the same IIS server.

Could you please clarify what exactly the issue is here? Are you saying this will never work or only that there will be an issue for a while? Thanks

I don't know if Altiris will consider this as an issue or work by design, but in my environment this was indeed an issue where package downloads would only work through the primary port on the IIS server. You cannot have the package downloaded through a secondary port
