Last week VeriSign predicted that the upcoming Cyber Monday would see the display of more VeriSign seals online than on any day before. Last year the VeriSign seal was viewed more than 150 million times in a single day, up from 100 million the year before that. I'm pleased to announce that this year we came in at more than 175 million seals displayed in a single day.
It's interesting to note that in a time of economic downturn and business anxiety more sites than ever are displaying their security for customers to see. It may be that they recognize the need to provide assurance. It may be that they seek every advantage in trying times, which include measured techniques to increase transaction rates among site visitors, such as the VeriSign Secured Seal and Extended Validation SSL. Either way, with commerce suffering and banks failing, it's encouraging to see that an indicator like this one is still significantly up year over year.
