It's been a pretty hectic week with the launch of the VeriSign Trust Seal last week. The VeriSign Trust Seal is live and running, and in fact I've already found it deployed on one site, BeerBoxes.com, an online retailer using a hosted, third party shopping cart.
One item I didn't have a chance to write about was our earlier announcement last week about online shopping center TheFind and its discoverery regarding the VeriSign seal and clicks-through. Short story is that when a site uses VeriSign SSL, TheFind presents an image of the seal with its listing for the merchant. TheFind looked into its stats and determined that the presence of the VeriSign seal on the listing increased clicks for that merchant an average of 18.5%. This finding supports testing by e-commerce sites determining that the VeriSign seal increases transactions an average of 24%.
All this information may be interesting in light of yesterday's announcement, which is that AVG LinkScanner will be including the VeriSign seal in its search results. LinkScanner users will see the VeriSign seal next to VeriSign-protected sites. As this functionality deploys across the LinkScanner user base, ultimately tens of millions of users will be enjoying the added protection of these seals.
