We are a Symantec reseller and really like the Xtreme Truth and 100 days of $100 Backup Exec promotions.  It has definitely motivated us to keep up better with customers and get renewals and upgrades that we were sometimes missing out on.  Any promotions that offers rewards in the same way that these two promotions offer them are appreciated.

Channel Partner Program should come up with policies and promotions that can help boost up the interest of people. Something that is beneficial from resellers point of view to end users point of view. But, I think Channel Partner Program is indeed helpful in addressing the basic needs/queries that an individual may encounter.

It was tough but good decision to move STS exams from online to Prometric. STS has become a real honor. Harder to get, but more value.

This coin has an opposite side though. IT pros who would like to pass STS exam do wonder: 'what if I fail?' Lot of them are thus deciding not to take an exam at all. The only motivator here will be the boss who tell them that they must pass it. Well there's a lot of ways to add another motivators...

It would be really great to make some promo for STS Certification Exams. I'm talking about the one like Microsoft's Second Shot.
The idea is to grant the partner's specialist a free second chance to pass the STS exam at Prometric if he/she has failed the first one.
Beleive me this will:

  1. Give potential STS certified specialisits more confidence while making decisions about taking the exam
  2. Boost STS certifications (on my opinion up to +40-60%)
  3. Raise loyalty from customers - they will be more satisfied with the partners who have STS certified pros onboard.
