Today in San Diego at The Privacy and Security Forum the first Healthcare-specific cloud survey was released. Last September I found myself in Boston at HIMSS’ 2013 Annual Privacy and Security Forum. Nothing unusual. Even as I type, that same conference is going on in San Diego for 2014. I’m not at this one, well in spirit I am - - because of something that happened in Boston last September. Something that was unusual.
I happened to meet Lee Kim, HIMSS’ Director of Privacy & Security there. As you might imagine we started talking about Privacy and Security. We talked about HIMSS Security Survey. And we talked about other survey topics. She said there is a lot of interest around cloud from members. And I said you can’t find healthcare-specific studies around cloud-utilization and issues. A project was born!
The next thing I know is that HIMSS Analytics and the Symantec Health team are writing healthcare-targeted surveys focused on cloud utilization. Issues around the cloud in healthcare. Future uses for cloud. Problems that providers have experienced with cloud services. What they need and what they look for. All cloud. All healthcare.
