Q:
Ezell asked, "When creating a new collection you have the option to create the collection by choosing "Query > Resource Type" and then selecting the link to add one or more filters which, by default, display as "No Filters". When this is selected, after a name has been established for the filter, a drop down list of tables can be accessed, from which to choose the filter criteria for the resource type selected.
The question becomes: If there are custom data classes or preexisting tables containing user specific data, is it possible to insert those classes/tables into the drop down list of tables from which to select filter criteria?"

A:
Yes, Ezell, but only if Asset Control Solution was installed. If Asset Control Solution is installed the custom data class/table could be inserted or accessible in the filter by doing the following:

Example: "Computer" is the resource type that the collection would be filtered on:

  1. Edit the "Computer" resource type, under "Configuration > Resource Settings > Resource Types > Asset Types > IT"
  2. Add the desired custom data classes to it.

After completing these steps, they should be selectable in the filter list for the 'Computer' resource type.
