Firefox Cache Leaking into a Layer

Created: 30 Sept. 2012 • Aktualisiert: 30 Sept. 2012 | 2 Kommentare

Despite global excludes for [LOCALAPPDATA]\Mozilla\Firefox and [APPDATA]\Mozilla\Firefox ([x] exclude subdirectories), the cache of (the unvirtualized) Firefox continues to be saved into a layer.

I would appreciate suggestions on how to ensure that the Firefox cache is written exclusively to the base.

Before you do anything else, if you have Firefox installed in the base and none of its components including any shortcuts are in a layer, then check where the firefox content gets saved when no layers are active.

I would also look in the registry with layers active to see whether any of Firefox's registry pointers are pointing at any locations under C:\fslrdr

Global excludes are not going to work if the Firefox application is directly writing to the layer source folders.
