OK, so now i have a few questions:

1. why did tech support not have this information?

2. When will it be live?

3. What versions of JAVA will be supported?

4. Why wasn't JAVA 7 support integrated into RU1 or at least MP1?

In short, why was this not thought about earlier?

I am quite certain that i am not the only user of JAVA, oh wait, we all use it! !@#$@#$!@#$

Why is java a good thing?  We thought it was ironic that SEP is running on java.

The SEPM server uses a private version of Java.  You do not need to install Java on the SEPM server as it will use its own private version.  This version of Java will not be used by other applications.  There is no need to install Java on the SEPM server.

Java is only needed if you try and access the Java console from a remote computer.  The remote Java console uses Quick Start and in Java 1.7 Sun (Oracle) made changes to Java that broke the SEPM remote console.  There are two options around this: 1. Use the web console instead.  The Web console does not require Java.  OR  2. Use the local Java console on SEPM.  The local console will use the SEPM private version of Java.

As mentioned above in SEP 12.1.2 we are planning to support Java 1.7.  This release is due out later this month (October 2012).
