This is a new utility that utilizes VxVM functionality to make it easier and faster to create new Guest domains in a LDOM (Sun Logical Domains) environment. The utility (vxbootadm) is simple to use and can create and personalize a new Guest domain in less than 15 seconds; consider the fast boot times of Logical Domains and a new Guest domain can be up and running within 60 seconds.

The utility requires the latest version of Storage Foundation 5.0, SF 5.0 MP3 RP1 (rolling patch 1). It can be downloaded through this link: https://vias.symantec.com/labs/vpcs/vpcs/patchinfo/1584 (note that the utility only utilizes VxVM hence the link refers to the VxVM component of the patch). To locate other patches, please look at this service: http://vos.symantec.com/

The utility is beta, it means that it may have unexpected bugs and cause unexpected issues. We have done our best to ensure that it does not behave unexpectedly however because it is beta, please do not use it in a production environment.

For installation and usage information, read the README.txt file below.

We are looking for feedback on the utility. Please report issues or unexpected behavior and most importantly, new feature requests. This is a beta release and we have a long list of features we would like to build but what is most important to you? Utilize the comment area below to report feedback as this forum is monitored daily.

Many thanks for trying out the new Boot Image Management utility!
