DS 6.9 SP3 / SP4 - Linux automation driver - Intel PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet
Attached is a compiled version of the Intel PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet driver for Altiris DS 6.9 SP3 or SP4 Linux Automation environment.
I needed this for a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 laptop containing Intel 82579LM Gigabit Ethernet, but it works with various chips--see below.
In case someone is unaware, you only need the .ko file contained in the .zip to add the driver to a boot disk/PXE image. Click the 'Have Disk' button on the driver screen of a Linux boot disk configuration and feed it the .ko file.
The source is included in the .zip and it also available here at time of posting: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=15817&lang=eng
In case the above page is changed or moved, here is the information from the Intel site:

Thank you so much! It works with our new HP campaq 6200 PCs. You saved me a pile of work so ...
Thanks again!
Thank-you for posting this!
Hello,
I have a potentially stupid question to ask as I am not fluent in Linux, so please pardon me. I have added the driver from this thread, thank you a ton btw, I certainly appreciated it. The driver has been added to LinuxPE but the driver database doesn't have any information in the class column, not sure this is even important but figured I would mention it just in case. What is important is that it has imported as an x86 only driver. I have x64 devices that aren't working. I thought this was supposed to handle x64 as well but perhaps I am wrong there. If that is true, does anyone has the x64 driver already compiled? Thank you in advance for any and all that have any information. I'm going to continue searching in the mean time. Have a great one!
-Scott
On which linux system did you compile this driver?
We tried to compile the driver in a knoppix 6.7 x64, but the newer driver from december 2011, which didn't work in the LinuxPE!
Your driver in the attachement also works with Fujitsu W510! Thank you!
