Error Code Lookup (ECL) is a service for searching solutions to error messages. Users can also interact with Symantec and each other by requesting help for undocumented error codes or submitting their own solutions.

Enter a complete Unified Message Identifier (UMI) code (for example, V-5-1-92) or keyword(s) to find support information. Partial UMI codes are not valid.

Select Advanced Options to display messages by product, release, platform, and severity. You can look up messages for 'Veritas Cluster Server', 'Veritas Cluster Server One', 'Veritas File System' and 'Veritas Volume Manager'.

To start using the Error Code Lookup, go to: https://vias.symantec.com/labs/vels/

Great service

I think the ECL service is a great service or rather a great facilitation for the products user community. Thanks for this facilitation.

While using ECL, I found one cool thing that it allows to request a solution from Symantec and as well from user community when a UMI code doesn't have a solution already. I didn't know about the turn around timeframe from Symantec but I didn't request a solution for UMI code V-3-25290.

Updated location

Two points:

1. The Service is GA, it is no longer in Beta.

2. The url has changed, it is now:

https://sort.symantec.com

then type the error code / UMI into the upper right hand search box.

Or, if you're in a web services mood, try:

https://sort.symantec.com/ecls/umi/V-5-1-92

just substitute the code you are looking for.
