Support and development personnel are now mainly using virtual platforms for their test environments.

GPartEd is a very handy tool which will allow you to resize your virtual HDD as well as physical ones.

It is a really cool Linux distro which comes as a live boot CD ISO. GPartEd boots into Gnome and runs the Linux PartEd utility to allow you to use a GUI to resize/copy disk partitions... It is seriously good and works with nearly all common partition types including NTFS, FAT32, ext2, ext3, etc.

For virtual machines, you just have to them to boot from the GPartEd ISO, so that you can resize the NTFS partition(s) as required to use the new disk partition size.

If you use this on Vista, you will have to run a repair on Vista afterwards, but it does work.

GPartEd lives here: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
