Hi,

Administrators maintaining multiple SEPM's or security products have problem in resetting in SEPM 12.1.x is they have missed out to provide email address during installation.

resetpass.bat was present in 11.0.x and greatly missed in 12.1.x. i have re-constructed restpass.bat to reset password for 12.1.x SEPM.

Just like 11.0.x the resetpass.bat has to placed in the  following location, unzip the file place in the location mentioned below.

For 32 bit:

Driver in which SEPM is installed/Program files/symantec/symantec endpoint protection manager/tools/

For 64 bit:

Driver in which SEPM is installed/Program files(x86)/symantec/symantec endpoint protection manager/tools/

Once it is placed in tools folder and run it with administrative privileges, then it will open a command prompt and close automatically it might take a couple of minutes, once the command prompt closes.

Open SEPM console and type

Username: admin

Password: admin

Hi,

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 Release Update 1 Maintenance Patch 1 (RU1 MP1) or later does not use resetpass.bat, which has been removed from the Tools directory.

The new method is a safer mechanism to reset passwords.

Reference: Resetpass.bat is not in Tools folder

Hi Chetan,

Its always good to have options, there are many situations where email address is not configured, in that case, the administrator has to start from the very beginning, in such cases this tool would be very helful.

I have used this tool on all versions of 12.1.X and its woks fine, hass not caused any SEPM crashes or any other i have come across. Please let me know if any exits.

Thank for your feedback

Hi Jeshrel,

Good thing that you've post a resetpass tool here but why Symantec is not posting the resetpass tool publicly is for security purposes. Users forgotten their passwords and without email configured on SEPM was best to contact Symantec Support and request for Resetpass tool.

Regards,

JM

I am agree with JM. Resetpass.exe is not be a secure way to reset the password, because any of the system admin able to run it easier. Forgot password option is a good way to get the exact password on the right place.
