The WinPE has the Intel NIC for 82567 but many computers nowadays come with Intel 82577 and Intel 82578 as their NIC's. These two drivers are not present in the default driver template of WinPE and WinPE-512. I have downloaded and extracted the Vista 32 bit drivers of these two NIC's. The reason for using Vista drivers here is, WinPE is based on Windows Vista. Irrespective your client is OS we need to add Vista drivers to the boot package to make Ghost work in the Pre-OS. To add the drivers follow the instructions below, 1. Download the zip files and extract them 2. Open Ghost boot wizard, choose WinPE and click on Edit 3. Choose the template where you want the add the drivers 4. Click on Edit if you want to add the drivers to the existing template or click on Copy to create a new template 5. Click on Add new driver and click on Browse 6. Navigate to the driver folder which you have extracted in Step 1 7. Expand the folder and choose Win 32 and click on Ok 8. Give a Friendly name to it like Intel 82577 and on Applicable OS choose Vista as WinPE is based on Windows Vista 9. Click on Ok 10. Scroll down the default drivers list to locate the Friendly name you gave in Step 8 11. Select the driver by giving a check on the check box and click on Ok 12. The drivers will be added to the template Thanks, Prasanna
Off late we have seen that most NICs require the OEM version of the drivers. The best practice is to get the drivers from the computer manufacturer.
Just an FYI, i tried the above drivers for Altiris DS 6.9 Deploy Anywhere for WIn PE and it did nto work. the model I am trying to add is teh HP 6360b proBook which uses the 82579LM nic.
I had problems getting Vista drivers to work for the Intel 82579LM NIC. Specifically this was for a Toshiba Tecra R840-S8420. I downloaded the Win 7 32bit driver direct from Toshiba, extracted it and it works. I also added the -ntc- -fni -ffx -fns -ntil switches when building the USB boot drive.
Intel Lan Driver v 15.7; 12-10-2010 - attached - you'll need to extract with WinRar
Hope this helps.
I am having the same issues. I'm using the Intel 82579 LM drivers. I cannot get the WinPE or the WinPE-512 images to use these drivers.
are these the latest drivers ??? can u post the updated ones it will be really helpful.
Using Ghost console 11.5.1.2266 the WinPE drivers are not showing up in the client properties.
So even tho I followed your method for establishing the WinPE Drivers, when choosing manual selection on the client properties the WinPE drivers are NOT visible . Even the WinPE drivers which were included in the packet are not visible to the client. I can access the Added PC-DOS Drivers from the client properties just fine. Saying the same thing 2 different ways now, so hopes you get my drift, otherwise I like to hear myself.
Any suggestions as to why the workstation's ghost client is PC-DOS and Not WinPE, or how to create the client as WinPE and NOT PC-DOS?? Is there some manual partition which needs to be created in the image workstation?
ThankYou, ThankYou,
Brad
