Many of Symantec's Veritas software products have network dependencies, hence network strength needs to be good enough for the products to perform correctly.
A few products that depend on Network are: Veritas Volume Replicator (VVR), Veritas Netbackup and Veritas Backup Exec.

So the question often comes up "How can I measure how good my network is? Are there any packet losses happening?"

You can use full-fledged Network Management Software which can give you these answers, or else for short tests you can use this utility from AppCritical, called  Standalone Sequencer (sas).

Visit the StandAlone Sequencer Product Page for Download.

When you install and execute this sas utility, you will need to provide the target IP address between which you would like to check your network. This utility generates a XML output which you would need to upload to Support; with the help of  that XML, support can provide you back with a report updating how well your network is performing. Please note, this utility doesn't overload your network and doesn't sends any user data, it simply verifies the network with ping/ICMP requests.

SAS is very helpful indeed

SAS is very much helpful indeed. It helps us finding out the bottlenecks in our network and we are able to solve our NDMP backup issues which was taking more than 24 hours to finish up. 56% of packet loss has been detected in the SAS test.

Recommend others to check this out too.

But guys, is there a way we can take out report in PDF format ourselves with the help of generated XML output file without going to the support just for the report?

Thanks
