I am working with some new Prolain DL380 G7's. I have the latest RDP pack loaded.  Have tried repairing the PXE boot images, and still am having the following problem.

WinPE boot is fine.

LinuxPE, boots fine, loads up and works fine with a static IP, however DHCP does not work.  It mentions not seeing a Link on the cable, so I think that is where the trouble is occuring.  The driver may be trying to see that a cable is connected before it actually tries to pull and address via DHCP.  Not sure, but either way, I can not use DHPC in LinuxPE, and that is where my trouble lies.

Any thoughts?  Or is anyone having a similar problem?

DS version is 6.9 SP5.

I was having the same issue as LPOZzz but it looks like the drivers attached did work for me, many thanks!

Only issue I have now is once it restarts and starts the Kickstart scripted part it fails to FTP the cfg file. How do I get the NIC to work on the BL460c G7 with a RH 6.x build? I can't see where the driver has to be placed to make it detectable.

Many thanks

Jase

Additionally - only lo inteface is visible in ifconfig so I suspect it is driver related.

I loaded these drivers into my PXE config and am using a BL460c/G7 and I am getting nowhere.  Is there any other trick that you did?  Can you tell me specifically which driver I should be using?  I am running DS 6.9 SP4 and my kernel version is 2.6.27.7, build 6.9.9269.  Any help is much appreciated as my head is hurting from banging it on my desk.

Scott,

What version of Deployment Server are you running?  The driver attached to this article only supports the 64bit version of the Linux pre-boot environment (kernel version 2.6.27.7) that comes with Deployment Server 6.9 SP4.  The driver isn't for the ESX operating system.

Hi, ajdavis,  What should the pxe config file look like for the NC551i NICs on my bl685c G7?  I've tried loading the driver you specified in this post but it doesn't appear to work.  I get to the point of reading the kickstart file and the process errors out saying no DHCP is available.  When I Alt+F1 and run the command "esxcfg-nics -l"  all I see are my mezzanine NICs.  I'm using the latest version of HP ESXi (Dec 2010) and there should be driver support on that image.

This is what my default file looks like for pxe:

"default 1
prompt 1
menu title VMware VMvisor Boot Menu
timeout 50

label 1
kernel mboot.c32
append vmkboot.gz ks=http://x.x.x.x/ESX4_kickstart.txt ksdevice=vmnic0 --- vmkernel.gz --- sys.vgz --- cim.vgz --- ienviron.vgz --- install.vgz

label 0
localboot 0x80"

thanks,

Scott

What model of HP G7 hardware are you using?  I have a couple other drivers complied that work with a DL380 G7 and DL580 G7's.

Hi Ajdavis,

I've really fill happy when I saw your message, but unfortunately you .ko does not work on my linux boot (from altiris 6.9SP3) kernel 2.6.27.7.

Does it necessary to make anything special so that works ?

May you send to me the backport of be2net drivers sources ?

Thanks for answering.

regards
