Have you been been infected by a virus lately? And that virus left you with restricted policy for your folder options, disable task manager, etc? Well maybe this utility can help you. The title says it all. This is a reg file.

I really hate those vbs files that keep using wscript to disable these features.

There are two files available on the zip

cleanup.bat and
cleanup.reg

cleanup.bat will automatically kill the wscript process then call the cleanup.reg to restore folder settings etc..
i used taskkill so it will work only with Windows XP. or if you have this command already.

just unzip them on the same directory.

In cases that you are sure that wscript is not running then you can use the cleanunp.reg file to restore folder settings etc.. separately.

Please give feedback..

Thanks,
Paul

Re

If the utility doesnt work, it seems a virus still inside the system and changing your registry. Check if wscript.exe is running on task manager

@ Bijay This means that there

@ Bijay

This means that there is still an active rootkit on your system. This one goes off the reservation, but try runing HijackThis to remove the rootkit.

Hi Bijay,

Your system may be infected with virus, run the load point utility and analyse the file.

Or else run MSCONFIG and look for supicious entry at startup.

Select the location and delete the virus file.

If ESUG is not giving you any

If ESUG is not giving you any results, run Hijackthis / GMER if possible. GMER will weed out any rootkits it has signatures for.

Also try AUTORUNS for WIndows by Sysinternals. It'll tell you which files are simply weird and you can remove them using the same. I find it very useful in looking for system file hooks and removing them.

Nice Tool!

Nice Tool!

It's quite time consuming having to fix all of these parts manually.

Cheers!

Thank For Writing About This Simple Utility

I have also got tired of those annoying viruses, but I don't think I have seen this kind of virus before. Nevertheless, I thank you for providing this information here and I hope that my antivirus will be enough to block most if not all malicious threats.
