If you like the SVS Dependency Activator but do not like setting registry keys manually, this tool -- SVS Dependency Setter (SVSDS)-- is just what the doctor ordered.

SVSDS gives you a GUI interface for setting registry keys to work with SVSDA. Just select the layer you want to work with, add the critical and normal required layers, and click "Set Dependency". SVSDS does all the registry manipulation for you.

Your opinion counts

For anybody out there using this tool, I would like your opinion on an idea I had for an enhancement.

I was thinking that rather than having it be a requirement that SVSDA already be on the client machines, have this tool place a copy of SVSDA in the layer. Since SVSDA is not very large, it would not impact the VSA size much but it would make it so every layer configured using this tool would have its own copy when you really only need to have a single copy on the box.

Please let me know what you think. I want to know how important it is to you before I spend the time to code the change.

Error running

Hi Jesse,
I had this error while trying to run SVSDS.

And on my system SVSDA, when run, displays a cmd prompt like window for a second and disappears, which might be normal as it probably looked for the needed registry keys and exited when not found.

Regards

I've contacted the author about this, if he doesn't want to fix it or doesn't reply, then I'll release an updated version with the fix applied

SVSDS Unhandled Exception

Hello Jesse,

When I run the SVSDS.exe app, I get an unhandled exception error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". Can you shed some light on this.

Thanks,
