Sylink.xml is the file that is used for communication from SEPM to SEP Clients .

There are 4 different ways in which Sylink.xml file can be replaced on a Client.

1. Manually Replacing the Sylink
2. Sylink drop ( From CD2)
3. Sylink Replacer
4. Sylink Remote

Out of these 4 Sylink Replacer and Remote can be used to replace the sylink on more than one machine at the same time.
If we have a list of IP address/ Host name on which we have to replace the sylink replacer will be handy else it will take a lot of time to search the network for the Clients. In simple words Sylink replacer takes a lot of time .

Sylink remote works instanatlly. The moment the wizard finishes the Client is online in SEPM.

Note : When Sylink Remote runs the Client sees a DOS screen for a fraction of seconds.

Good one, though

Good one, though SYLINKREMOTE_ENG is outdated. ( https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/syl... )

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey!  I found a virus!  Look at me!  I'm soooo goooood!"

Yes Sandeep you are right ,

Yes Sandeep you are right , Sylink Replacer is a better tool then Sylink Remote , as it covers all the criteria ( password , Client Not installed in default location , Runs in a silent mode)
But consider a scenario where the Client is Installed on the default path and there is no a password to stop the service, the customer   is aware that the clients will get a pop up for DOS screen for few seconds. In my opinion sylink remote is better  choice here  , as it is instant .
At times the customer doesn’t have the list of IP address then remote is  handy.

With Sylink Remote clients appear in seconds in SEPM .
Also we can modify the batch to accommodate the password if there is one on the client.

Irony, I am supporting

Irony, I am supporting Symantec and you are supporting a utility that Symantec prohibits the tech support from using or providing to the customers.

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey!  I found a virus!  Look at me!  I'm soooo goooood!"
