It would be nice to have a list of known and confirmed bugs that Symantec support knows with a plan to fix it and maybe voting system (like in ideas) that we may vote what should be fixed first. With a bug there should be also ETA for a fix (in what release it will be fixed). Sometimes there is a known problem and even whitepapers available but only for internal use and it would be handy to be able to seek and reference something when calling support (obviously I'm not expecting that some ...

When I decided to upgrade to NS7, I could not find a separate downloadable item on Symantec Download page for NS7. To upgrade from HD6 to SD7, I had first to download and install NS7, then install SD solution to it. And since, there is no NS7-only download available, I had to download CMS 7, which downloads NS7, then add SD7solution to it. It would be really nice if Symantec adds NS7 as a download item to it's Download page, so that we do not get confused when we need to ...

When creating software deployment jobs within NS it would be great if there was a software prerequisite toolset of some sort. This toolset would allow you to specify OS and application requirements that must be present before software installations can continue.

With Altiris7 we are stuck to use Internet Explorer 7. I'd really like to see FULL browser support for any of the major browsers on any common platform. This should function under Windows, but I'd also like to have full console functionality when using a Linux or MAC platform to access it.

I think that Symantec should ensure that all their applications are available in Windows Installer format and come with a guide to customising the application using Wise Packaging Studio. You could call such a program "Administrator Friendly" or something, and even extend it to include 3rd party apps (for a fee, of course!). Have some rules like: Comes as Windows Installer. Includes an Admin customisation guide. No post install setup... Disable registration... etc.

In SWV 6.1 there is a feature called "Auto Run From Layer". It would be nice to have a similar global feature "Auto Run From Base" that defines processes that should never run from a layer or at least act as if they were started from the base. An Example: right now when a user receives a mail (using virtualized mail software) containing a url to an installer and the user clicks this link, iexplorer.exe and ultimately even the installer ...

Since the original release of Notification Server 7 (and even a little before that during the beta cycle) I download the symantec.pl.xml file daily to review if the content has changed. In fact I do not do this, I create a shell file to do it in my stead - it's so much more efficient than I could ever be ;). Hi, This is a cross post, from the forum mentioned in the subject line, I did on October 21st, 2009 Hi, I have noticed that OOBM (Out of Band Management - covering vPro, ASF etc) doesn't have it's own forum. In my experience this is a forum that may well get a fairly significant amount of use! It also appears to not be recognised by Symantec as a product yet!? What do the community think? During the install of SMC it would be nice to have more customization control over Symantec Management Console. Such control would be to include or exclude features for Linux, Mac, or Windows. If you select not to install such features then the agents, reports, and other such tools should not show up on the console.

Is there any way the Trusted Advisors could get access to beta products like the partners do? Due to the approval process for getting servers at my organization I'm just now getting the ability to test Service Desk 7. I know there good reasons for Partners to have that, but I was hoping we might be able to get that too. A good example would be a pending Asset 7 beta and subsequent release. I'm worried that a bunch of Asset 7 questions will come up right away and ...

I think it would be very beneficial to have other items that can define what machine an app is provisioned to, rather than simply the user id. In an environment when people do switch machines from say a headquarters site to a DR site and you only want the streaming/virtualized app available at DR. You could set up 2 streaming environments, but then you also have to manage 2 environments. If you set up a nice load balanced system that covers many of your sites, you can ...

Hello, Except I miss something or trip/trick for this, we can not capture a new layer or update an existing, if this layer has a "high" dependency to another. eg. if you create a layer for your SQL express, and you want to create another layer for your DS installation: You need the SQL running, to install your DS. But you cannot do that because to capture a "new application", you must deactivate ALL your existing layers ! I also try to create an "empty layer", ...

I have found the console in NS 6, 6.5, and 7 to be very confusing and unorganized. Some real thought should go into the next upgrade as to how the console should be designed. Why not have all setting, policies, or jobs for a certain module all under that particular component. If I wanted to configure something in Patch management, I could go to Patch management and configure the settings, jobs, task and/or policies right there. Now I have to go from Settings to Manage and then maybe ...

It would be nice with a function to send out urgent messege to all computers from NS or deployment. För example when you need to push out a message that say that is some sort of problem, who the users need to know about maybe logout or that the e-mail server is down.

In NS6 you had the ability to enter report parameters before the report executed. In NS7 the report executes as soon as you select it, and you can't make any changes to the report parameters until it has finished running. This can be particularly frustrating when a report takes a very long time to run.

Really needs to be built into an enterprise level tool like this, we are using the update synch trigger originally created by Condorman and have issues with that not working quite as expected. It would be great if full Active Directory synchronisation was built into the product
