Proactive Threat Protection Definitions are older than Virus and Spyware Protection definitions

I am running SEP 12.1 on our company's servers and clients and have noticed that the definition date for Proactive Threat Protection is always older than the Virus and Spyware Protection definitions.  I have previously assumed this is because the updates are not as current as the Virus and Spyware Protection definitions but wanted confirmation that this is the case.

The difference at present is about 2 weeks so it does update but not as often as the Virus and Spyware Protection definitions.  The fact that SEPM doesn't complain about the definitions being out of date for this makes me think this is OK, but I would like some confirmation as to whether this is as expected or otherwise some advice on how I should troubleshoot this issue.

You are correct in that the PTP Defs are not updated as often as the Virus defs.  The current latest PTP defs are for 29th October 2012 r13 (at time of writing).
