This issue has been solved. See solution.

Backup Exec 2010 R3

Backuping vSphere 5.1 VM thru VMWare Agent.

For some VMs, the backup fail with error 0xe0009579 - Unable to copy the virtual machine disk using the VMware VixDiskLib, despite the hotfix 195395 is installed.

When I run the same backup with GRT disabled, the backups run fine.

vSphere 5.1 is not supported.  See this

That's what I discovered with Symantec Support...

For now I'll be running non GRT backups for the concerned VM.

Support told me that a patch will be released soon.
