10.0 Desktop/Laptop Option Shutdown Issue
Is there any way to get rid of that annoying little window that comes up every time I choose shut down? If you have a scheduled DLO backup on your desktop or laptop, even if it's scheduled for the NEXT day, and you choose Start > Shut Down, choose Shut Down and hit OK, the DLO pops up a window saying "The DLO Agent is closing, but a pending backup is scheduled to run. Provide your Windows username and password to allow the backup." If you enter your username and password and choose to store it, every time you shut down you get a message that says "The backup has been scheduled, what would you like to do" with options for Logout, Restart, Shut down.
I don't mean to be nit-picky, but when I tell my computer to shut down, I don't need my backup software to ask me "Are you sure you're sure you want to shut down?"

Try this. On the DLO Client, open the client, select Settings, and under Schedule make sure "Automatically run jobs when logging off" is deselected.
Brad,
Thank you for the suggestion, but that didn't work. I force all my users to use the settings in the profile, and that option is deselected in the profile. I tried on my own workstation by overriding the profile settings, and still have the same problem.
Any other suggestions?
Recycle the Backup Exec services on the media and remote server and then verify the results.
When it asks you for the logon details, click on Save Password.
The prompt should then go away on the next reboot.
Kindly update us about the result.
Thanks

I am having the same issue. I clicked on the save password, but everytime i want to shut down, it asks if i want to logout, reboot, or shutdown. Thsi will only show up if I have any files that have been modified. I have the backup scheduled for when i logon and every 12 hours. How do i make this annoying popup go away?
I'm also having this problem - I've power cycled the media server, remote storage server and the client, checked that the Save Password checkbox is unchecked and generally run around in circles ;)
I have noticed that this doesn't happen if I log off - Only if I shut down. Also, if I log off there is a brief (too fast to see the entire message and much too fast to click the End program button) windows "program unresponsive" error dialog about the DLO agent having hung....
People using the BEWS 9.1 DLO client do not have this problem.....
Still having the same issue. I've done everything short of reload BE10 on my server, which I'm not about to do. I'm very disappointed in Veritas's ability or desire to support the Desktop/Laptop Option, no one on their tech support line seems to know anything about it.
If anyone comes across a way to get rid of this obnoxious prompt, I'd love to hear from you.
I feel the same way as you Bill. This is pretty sad support coming from a company that is supposed to be a leader in its field.I have tried everything short of reloading also, but can not get the prompt to go away. If someone out there knows how to get rid of this, a post would be very much appreciated.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused because of the delayed response from our side. Pleases let us know if your issue / problem is resolved so that we can archive this post. However, if the issues still persist then I would suggest you all to apply Hotfix 8 from the following link wherein the issue you're facing is addressed:

Having the same problem as well. Having a 25 evaluation group on v10 SP1 + all hotfixes. After the hotfixes were installed I added 5 more users to my eval group. Seems to me that hotfix 8 did not solve any of the problems that it was surposed to. Still having this problem, the 0MB network usage and End task.
Did you upgrade the desktop agents?
After installing the Hotfix, the Desktop Agent must be upgraded to take advantage of the new features in this Hotfix.
To upgrade the Desktop Agent on the desktop computer
1. Exit the Desktop Agent, if it is running
2. Browse to the network server where the installation files for the Desktop Agent are stored. The default location is \\Media Server name\DLOAgent.
3. Run Setup.
4. Re-create the user profilesMessage was edited by:

After SP1 and hotfix was applied 5 new users were added to my evaluation group. They all have Win XP sp2 and never had the DLO software loaded before
I have the same problem with the prompt on shutdown also. I have installed the hotfix and updated the clients but still have the annoying prompt. Has anyone found a solution for this yet?
I have gotten the issue confirmed by Veritas. Hotfix 8 does not fix all problems stated. The promise is now to wait for v10.1. One Veritas guy told me due June but this hasen't been confirmed by others within Veritas.
Hello Mr Clark,
I would like to know if you have tried the solution given on 12 th April by Veritas representative. If yes what was the result.
However,to know about release of Backup Exec v10.1, please check Veritas Update regularly.

Hi,
regarding number 4 "Re-create the user profiles".
Do you mean that the profiles should be deleted and created again?
And also delete the files that are already backed up?
Please describe a little bit more detailed!
Regards Anders
Hello,
Please try the following option:
From the Schedule tab, select the following option:
Run backups
"Whenever a file changes" and verify the results.

Hello i am hoping you guys have found a solution to this Logoff/Shutdown/Reboot issue and not just a work-a-round. I have read through this forum and have followed the above steps (i.e loaded the hotfixes, re-created the veritas user profile, etc, etc), however if i DO NOT want to set the run backups "whenever a file changes" and still have the backup run on logoff, is there a way to get rid of that annoying Logoff/Shutdown/Reboot window (is it a reg hack??)!!!!
If anyone has an idea please share the love because it is driving us crazy.

Hello Bill Clark,
Please update us on the status of the issue, does the last post answer your problem satisfactorily.

We faced this same issue and found the resolution to be the following:
In the Profile, click on the User settings tab. See if the Modify backup schedule box is checked. If it is, uncheck this box and the pop up should go away. The reason that this pops up with that box checked is that you are disconnecting from the network, but you have a job scheduled to run sometime after disconnect. Entering those credentials would allow your system to login and back up without your presence.
Hope this helps.
Hello Mr Bill Clark,
Please let us know if your issue is resolved.
